Meet Our Scholarship Recipient: Trinushka Perera
Trinushka Perera, currently pursuing a BS in Sociology at the University of West Georgia, anticipates graduation at the end of this fall 2016, as a senior. Coming from a tiny Island in the Indian Ocean named, Sri Lanka, Trinushka is a 24-year-old young lady, who presently holds a BSc in Social work, studied under the National Institute of Social Development in Sri Lanka. Having a vast passion and interest in giving back to the society through her various leadership and engagement in her society, Trinushka was a successful recipient of the Georgia Rotary Student Program Scholarship in 2015 and represented Sri Lanka as Student Ambassador for Rotary International.
Throughout her educational career, Trinushka has worked with different communities, engaging in herself in research as well as educating herself in various fields of the society. Once a psychiatric social worker, once a social work researcher, Trinushka also has been on cultural exchange programs to Germany and Egypt to work with children. Trinushka is a proud holder of many awards and honors, namely some, Dean’s list at UWG for two consecutive years, 2015 Multicultural achievement program award recipient, International Dean’s list recipient, Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society recipient, Highest GPA recipient for three consecutive years, at her home institution.
Trinushka is also a passionate dramatist, while she has acted herself, produced and directed stage dramas while she was back in Sri Lanka. Trinushka is a vibrant student, while her interest spam across various categories. Trinushka plans to pursue her education further after graduating here at West Georgia. She plans to follow a M.A., in Diplomacy and International Relations Graduate program at the Seton Hall University in New York and aims to be a Career Diplomat, working for the United Nations, as a representative of her country, in the days to come.
